Screens
Unpolished terrazzo concrete 1997.
Shown on private property outdoors
4 screens each 170cm x 45cm x 14cm. Exhibited at the Whitechapel Art show, London, 1998.
“Screens” came from living in Amsterdam where prostitution is legal. Screens are a direct inspiration of a parking lot in the outskirt of the city where prostitution could be safely controlled but with a little privacy thanks to some screening devices. The work is attractive because of its material and the mystery around it. “Screens” make people wonder because of its misplacement and the odd colour of the concrete.
Colours are a strong element in my work it has its equal share in the meaning of the overall artwork
