buoy
Buoyant is about creating a sense of hovering. At first it is a playful trick on the viewer, as you can easily imagine you are in presence of real styrofoam floaties being attached to each other… but then you realise after a while that the object is actually in refined porcelain slip, heavy and out of context. Porcelain is an earthy material contrasting with the water that the overall concept suggests. The round shape of the floaties can also refer to the very pure existence of the universe, its planets, and suns gravitating, revolving since who knows when, in the infinity.
The artwork is bare and simple. It uses composition and pure materials -coming from the earth. The artwork demands some time to sink in. It is an open book of poetry written with a visual universal language.
Buoyant is also an artwork unconsciously influenced by the environment I live in.
