Drilling for fame
All fired and glazed clay
41 elements all dismountable
200cm diameter x200cm high
•This large sculpture was an installation bearing lots of technical challenges. I had been selected by the ceramic European residency (EKWC) in the Netherlands allowing me to achieve its making. With the support of the numerous technicians (molds, clay, firing and glazing) I could make it all happen.
•The main challenges were the monumental size (firing limitations), and the angled shaped construction going against clay natural motion. Managing this project taught me to listen to experts and tune my work and ideas to what is possible. It also met with success the limited in time and budget frame
•The idea came after a visit of a gas pipeline installation barge in the immense harbor of Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
